Things I find interesting

Just another Clipmarks ClipLogs weblog

Great gift for the electronics rookie in your life!

Most of these are things that anyone already into electronics will already have but if you know someone that wants to get into electronics, this is perfect.

Super easy and cheap oscilloscope.

I have wanted to buy a real oscilloscope for some time now but I just can’t justify the $800 for the one I want.  This one will fill in very nicely for now.

It has 2 analog inputs and can supply 5V ont the 4 pins header on the right. One of the inputs can be scaled down with the trim pot.
The firmware in the Tiny45 is written in C and compiled with Winavr and usb source code from obdev. As you can see, there is no crystal , the software sync the internal 16.5Mhz pll clock with the USB clock.

The cost with a home made pcb is around 5€.
Of course, do not expect 1Gs/s HID does not alow that data rate !
But it is using a 10bits AD.

Super Mario controled with a Theremin!

I’ve been debating for several months now on wether to attempt to make a theremin or buy a cheapo but this confirms that no matter what, I MUST have one!  I’ve been seeing more and more really cool projects done with these things and though I don’t have time to do any of them, I just have to try playing music on one, not to mention it could keep the kids busy for hours.

Anyway, back to the point, any excuse to play super mario again is a good excuse in my book!!
